Taman Ayun Temple
Taman Ayun Temple located at Mengwi Village, Badung Regency takes about 45 minutes drive from Denpasar airport or just 20 minutes drive from finish point of Ayung river rafting. It was built around 1634 M by the King of Mengwi, I Gusti Agung Ngurah Made Agung. The name of Taman Ayun literally means the beautiful garden. It probably the temple was designed not only as religious purpose, but also as an art that could be used as the place of relax and refreshing the soul of the king as well as the people who worship the god and homage of the ancestors. The temple is surrounded by moat with lotus and lily, making this temple so beautiful. The temple complex is divided into 3 court yards and connected by gate. At first yard, there is a big building called wantilan, functioning as meeting hall, stage for performance and as place held a cock fighting when there is a temple ceremony. In the second court yard, Bale KulKul, a wooden bell tower will take your attention while in inner sanctum there are multi roof shrine with black sago palm fiber as their roof called Meru. The highest meru has 11 roofs as symbol of Mount Agung, the highest mountain in Bali which believe as the home of the Goddess.
Tanah lot Sunset Temple
Last stop of this adventure and sightseeing tour is Tanah Lot Temple, located at Beraban Village, Kediri District and Tabanan Regency. It takes about 30 minutes drive from Taman Ayun Temple in Mengwi. Tanah Lot Temple common called sea temple as it located at sea shore and was built around 16 century by Hindu priest who was coming from Java Island during his holy journey called Thirta Yatra for spreading Hindu teaching. Tanah Lot Temple and surrounding is very beautiful and well maintained. During sunset time, Tanah Lot Temple is crowded by tourist either Domestic tourist nor foreign tourist to enjoy stunning sunset when weather is clear.
